![]() It works on my old, slow, travelling netbook, and an old, slow desktop, and a really slow, old laptop, but not on the fast new desktop that is my primary machine or my wife's new laptop. Wasted yesterday trying to get my music organizer to recognize the XT as an MP3 device for music transfers. Wonder if I can convince the XT that the car radio is a "headset"? Something else to play with this winter. I'll lay the XT in the console, powered by a USB cable, just to experiment, but I expect conflicts if I try to connect both the car audio system and the XT to the phone. If I have to do that, it will be easier to save $50 and just keep using Google Maps on the phone, along with mount I already have. Unlike the 595 automotive mount, the XT mount is not powered, so you have to plug in the power cable every time you take it in or out. I'll update when I'm done and let y'all know how it worked out. Then I'll buy the additional bracket (above link) and install the ZUMO XT on my RT the way this guy did. Since I'm using the bracket, it's be nice if there was a two pinned power cable with a male USB end, but they only seem to offer the power cable that comes in the box, the USB, or a separate "auto" package which uses a cigarette lighter device and poor quality suction cup (no thanks). Otherwise, I'll have to spring for another $40 power cable. From the installation instructions, it looks like the ZUMO can be powered from either the cradle (for the bike) or the included USB cable, which should power it from the car. I'll install the bracket included, there's a two-ball socket included, and I'll buy the twist-mount RAM mount suction cup with 1" ball. So, if any of you happen to have a documentation thread on how you did this on your car/motorcycle, I'd appreciate some tips. Right now, I'm thinking that I'll buy a second AMP's plate to mount to mount the ZUMO to the car's ball mount (whichever one I get), so that I can mount it interchangeably between the car and motorcycle. Garmin has a kit, but I'm not particularly in love with that solution. ![]() I figure that any 1" ram ball mount will work for the base, and hooking up the electrical is either going to be via USB plug or cigarette lighter/12V socket. ![]() I have many versions of "reinvented wheels" all over my garage □ □, trying to be smarter now), I'm posting this to ask for advice, if anyone else has done this. However, for now, I'd like to mount it in my car to make use of it, and get experience with it before I'm out on the bike. I'll rig up my mounting in the NAV6 cradle at some point this winter. I received my ZUMO XT the other day, and won't be using my BMW 2018 RT until sometime next spring.
